Absentee Voting: How do I do that?

Posted by Devin on October 6th, 2008 comments No Comments

Why not ride the popularity train of voting topics in the media, right?  For everyone who was fortunate enough to stop by the Voter Suppression Wiki and voice their opinions or maybe experiences, well done.  If you haven’t, go ahead, take a break from this blog post, and visit the Voter Suppression Wiki now…

voter-absentee.jpg…Great stuff, right?  On the note of voting and perhaps some hurdles involved in the process we come to the issue of Absentee Voting.  Every state in the US allows absentee voting, although every state has a different process and different rules and regulations guiding its voters.  Students of the University of Washington’s Digital Journalism class created a Wetpaint site to handle this problem and centralize all there is to know about absentee voting no matter what state you’re registered to, the Vote Absentee page. Each state is listed with each rule and regulation detailed below.  It’s that easy to find out how your vote can be (because it needs to be) voted.  The class made this site a project of theirs due to the rising percentage of absentee voters, whether they are in the form of active military members overseas, moving families (especially in times of financial crisis), disabled citizens, and tons of other reasons people need to use the absentee voting system.

Join the community today, or, at the very least, stop by to make sure you know or anyone you know is aware of how exactly to make sure their absentee vote counts!
