Lust, deceit, betrayal and envy battling love, piety, loyalty and temperance—sound like a Hollywood drama thriller? Try a day in the life of King Henry VIII. For those of you not familiar with HBO’s The Tudors, starring British sensation Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the womanizing King of England, check out The Tudors Wiki for everything from an overview to a detailed plot guide. For those adamant followers of the series, why not try your hands at the third season predictions, or test your knowledge by taking one of the Tudor quizzes—something to tide you over until the heart stopping (literally for quite a few of the characters) action of the show continues.

The Tudors ripped apart the image of a stoic British Royal family, and replaced it with a group of ambitious yet secretly free spirited people living in a time of rigid traditions and shifting alliances. After all, what’s a drama without constant conflict? The star-studded cast certainly hasn’t hurt the show’s success either. Maria Dole Kennedy as the faithful yet strong-willed Catherin of Aragon; Natalie Dormer as the defiant and seductive Anne Boleyn; and, my favorite, beating out Jonathan Rhys Meyers as King of the set, Henry Cavil as Charles Brandon (whom I suspect to be a mostly fictional character, but HBO never presented the series as a History lesson).

Oh, and for those of you constantly finding yourselves pointing at the TV set shouting: “that’s not true!” The Tudors Wiki has something for you too—the Historical Inaccuracies Section.

If neither the plot nor the history interests you, it’s worth a visit just for the elaborate costumes and the vibrant sets.

One of my fav shows ever! There are loads of facts and fiction mixed in, which makes it more interesting. As a big Tudors fan it doesn’t bother me about the inaccuracies.
Charles Brandon did exist as the king’s true friend. He married a few times, fathered several children.
Just a side note, the wonderfully talented Jonathan Rhys Meyers is irish born and bred!
