New features for the New Year!

Posted by Alex on January 5th, 2009 comments 5 Comments

To kick-off the New Year we made a number of enhancements to your Wetpaint sites.

First and foremost we created some new ‘content modules’ for your site’s content pages.  From the WYSIWYG toolbar you’ll notice a new button which offers you a choice of three new Flash modules.

WYSIWYG toolbar

New modules include:

Recent site activity: like the name suggests, this module is a great way to show users what’s happening on the site.  It’s sort of like the ‘what’s new’ page, but more customizable, interactive and fun.  Rollover each line item to see more detail on each change.

Add the module to your site’s home page - it’s a great hands-free way to keep your home page fresh and dynamic at a glance.

New member spotlight: want to shine a light on new members to roll out the welcome wagon?

The new member spotlight is great for calling out the ‘newbies’ so you and your site moderators can welcome them with open arms.

New gallery photos: now there’s another way to showcase the latest photos from your site’s gallery.  With the new gallery module you can choose from a variety of new displays.

The gallery module is a great way to make your site more visually appealing and fun.

Each module comes with a variety of display options and automatically matches the look of your site.  However, if you want to change the look and feel you can customize the colors, size, and alignment to your heart’s content.

Other changes include:

‘My Friends’ in the address book: now you can easily send private messages to all your friends.  Simply click the ‘To’ button on your private message and select ‘My Friends’ from the list of options.

Help for creators: site creators and administrators can now retrieve the ‘splash screen’ help and toolbars via the help button on the top right of the sites.  Use these features to orient yourself to the main tools or the site, or, for more advanced help, consult Wetpaint Central.

Please be sure to give us feedback on these features so we can optimize them in the future.

Why is the EasyEdit button so terribly limited in Firefox/Chrome? It is truly a pain to have to revert to IE7 just to add bulleted lists to a page.

Other browser-based editing environments (e.g. Typepad, WordPress) seem to deal with various browsers pretty well. Why can’t WetPaint?

THESE NEW MODULES SCREWED UP MY HOME PAGE. YOU TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE RIGHT THIRD OF MY HOME PAGE MESSING UP THE LAYOUT OF MY ENTIRE PAGE - THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I NEED REMOVE THESE ‘MODULES’ WHICH ARE MEANINGLESS FOR MY SITE AS I AM THE ONLY EDITOR?

WILL THESE MODULES MAGICALLY APPEAR ON MY OTHER 22 PAGES MESSING THEM UP, AS WELL?

I KNOW THIS IS A FREE SITE BUT I HAD 99 HITS TODAY (MY PERSONAL RECORD) - WHAT HAPPENS WHEN FOLKS ENTER MY SITE TOMORROW AND IT IS ALL MESSED UP?????

HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS DOWN THE TUBES FOR MEANINGLESS BUNK.

PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THEM OR REMOVE THEM FOR ME.

I AM HEADING BACK TO TRY TO FIX IT SO I AM NOT EMBARASSED TOMORROW… PROBABLY BE UP ALL DAMN NIGHT.

THANK YOU.

Hi Maggie -

I just sent you an email which hopefully should help.

The content modules only appear on the homepage and I’m sorry for any disruption they may have caused.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!
